Alexander Matheou, Asia-Pacific director for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, met with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul this week, the ministry said Sunday.During the meeting, Muttaqi hailed the IFRC and ICRC in Afghanistan for its services, cooperation and operations but pointed out areas in the country which are in dire need of assistance, the ministry&s statement read.Matheou presented a report on the IFRC&s operations and cooperation in Afghanistan, and extended their appreciation and gratitude to the Afghan government, in particular the foreign ministry, for ongoing cooperation.He said that in the past year, 28 million Swiss francs ($30 million) has been forthcoming which was used to provide health services, water supplies and other assistance, especially to about five million needy people and victims of natural disasters.Muttaqi told the Red Cross official to reflect the real picture of Afghanistan to the international community and asked the organization to speed up efforts to ensure comprehensive assistance and pay special attention to the health sector and equipment of hospitals so as to provide better services.The post Senior Red Cross official meets Muttaqi in Kabul first appeared on Ariana News.
